CONTINUOM COLLECTIVE

Even though environmentalism is implicit in the philosophy of yoga,  yoga products are usually not disposed of in a yogic way. Instead, they are thrown in the trash  and either burned in an incinerator, landfilled or even dumped illegally, contributing to the global climate and pollution crisis.

 This needs to stop.

The ContinuOM Collective was founded to address the challenges of finding sustainable solutions for hard-to-recycle waste streams generated by the yoga industry and its consumers.
To implement these solutions, we have launched the Second Flow initiative focusing on the collection of used yoga mats, the donation of too-good-to-go mats to worthy causes, and the recycling of yoga mats and production waste into new industrial products.

Second Flow relies on the active involvement of the yoga community. If you practice yoga or own a yoga studio, please consider giving your used mats to Second Flow instead of trashing them. If you sell yoga products, please feel invited to team up with us and help extend our collection and recycling program to your region.

Together we can make a difference.

SECOND FLOW INITIATIVE

Collect

Since January 2020 we have collected more than 6000 PVC and 1800 rubber yoga mats. We are currently trial testing the collection of OEKO-TEX certified PVC and natural rubber mats. Step by step, we aim to extend the collection program to more materials.

Reuse

Our initiative ensures that too-good-to-go mats are cleaned, repacked and donated to worthy causes. Ultimately, at the end of their second life, we will recollect these mats and convert these through 100% recycling into new products.

Our Second life partners

Recycling

To avoid incineration and landfilling in favor of zero waste solutions, we partner with specialized companies capable of recycling both yoga mats and post-production material into new industrial products. Our goal is that 100% of the material can be reused.
